Care Summary

The Social Wrasse is a Red Sea endemic that the hobby largely ignores, which is baffling given how beautiful the dominant males become. Keeping a group of three or more in a 75-gallon or larger produces a natural social hierarchy that is genuinely interesting to watch develop. They eat frozen mysis and enriched artemia readily, which puts them among the easier fairy wrasses to feed in captivity. Do not skip the secure lid because this species jumps, and losing a dominant male that took months to color up is a painful way to learn that lesson.
