Yellow Scroll Coral
Turbinaria reniformis
Care Summary
Turbinaria reniformis, the Yellow Scroll Coral, is one of the more recognizable and desirable Turbinaria — a bright yellow to golden-green scroll with a flowing, irregular plate form that makes an excellent mid-tank focal point. Mid-tank placement under moderate light with medium flow; like other scroll corals it benefits from turbulent flow that reaches the folds and internal surfaces rather than a single laminar stream. Detritus management inside the scrolled folds is the ongoing maintenance task — blow them out during water changes or you'll get spot tissue die-off in the shadowed interior pockets. Stable chemistry is its most critical requirement; yellow scroll corals are sensitive to alkalinity swings and will fade to pale yellow or show edge bleaching when alk fluctuates, even briefly.
