Sarcophyton trocheliophorum is the classic toadstool-style leather — a thick, ruffled cap on a stout stalk that anchors a mixed reef with serious presence. Mid-tank placement under moderate light and steady medium flow keeps the polyps extended and the cap well-inflated. Every few weeks it'll close up, shed a waxy coat, and look like it's dying — it's not; that's normal sloughing behavior, just give it space and don't poke it. No target feeding needed, but keep nutrients from bottoming out or the polyps will stay retracted longer than usual after each shed cycle.
