Leather Toadstool

Sarcophyton glaucum is the classic toadstool leather coral that periodically sheaths itself in a waxy coat which it then sloughs off. During this shrinking phase it looks unhealthy but will reopen within days. It produces terpene compounds that can inhibit SPS growth in smaller systems.
