Care Summary

Goniopora djiboutiensis is a flowerpot coral species with shorter, denser polyps than columna — still demanding, but one of the more commonly available Goniopora that's been kept successfully long-term. Sandbed placement under moderate light with very gentle, indirect flow; it needs still enough water for polyp extension without enough turbulence to stress the colony. The fundamental challenge is sustaining it beyond 18 months — Goniopora has a well-documented decline pattern in captivity when feeding is inconsistent, and that reputation is earned; don't take this coral on unless you're committed to a regular feeding regimen. Feed three to four times a week with phytoplankton, rotifers, and small mixed zooplankton — variety in the food type matters as much as frequency with this genus.
