Elegance Coral is the reef trade's problem child with a cult following — nothing else has those sweeping, iridescent tentacles that extend a foot or more in a healthy specimen, and a happy elegance anchors an entire tank design. Floor placement in a sand bed pocket with medium light and medium indirect flow; it needs to sit naturally with its skeleton buried in substrate, not perched on bare rock — that's where the old collection site disease debate starts. The number one killer is misplacement — people put elegance on rock with high flow because it looks dramatic, and then watch it decline over six weeks as it fails to inflate fully and starts showing brown jelly on the tissue edges. Target feed meaty foods like mysis or silversides two to three times a week directly to the tentacles when they're extended; an elegance that isn't being fed is an elegance that's slowly losing the fight.
