Goniopora columna is the advanced keeper's flowerpot — long, swaying polyp columns with a floral appearance that looks incredible when fully extended but demands stable, mature system water to stay that way. Sandbed placement under moderate light with gentle, low flow; it doesn't want to be blasted, and turbulent flow causes chronic polyp retraction that slowly starves the coral. The advanced rating is well-earned — Goniopora is historically one of the most difficult LPS to keep long-term, with many specimens declining over 12–18 months in systems that looked fine on paper; consistent target feeding is non-negotiable here. Feed several times a week with phytoplankton and small zooplankton like rotifers or oyster eggs — without regular food inputs, Goniopora slowly wastes regardless of your lighting and flow setup.
